This represents the interior hole you will cut for your door. Using a drywall saw cut along the line adjustment if you have insulation, molding or other wall features.
Now using the a side of the pet door check the fit in the hole that you just cut. The door should slide in easily. If it is too tight remeasure and recut. Now remove the pet door from the wall, fold up the cardboard center locator and place it in the a side of the door. Place the a side of the door back into the wall, raise the pet door flap and push the cardboard center locator through the wall until it reaches the other side. Make sure that all four panels of the cardboard Center locator are flush with the interior wall of the pet door.
Choose an appropriate size drill bit for the material that you’ll be drilling through. Drill through each of the three holes in your template. Be careful to keep the holes as straight as possible. Now take your template outside and line up the three pilot holes in the template with the holes that you’ve just drilled and tape the template in place. Drill a hole in each of the four corners of the template as you did inside. Now remove your template.
Use a straight edge to draw a line to connect each of the four holes. Using an appropriate cutting device cut along the line that you just drew. Once you’ve finished cutting the hole, remove the piece of the exterior wall, be sure and save this piece in case you ever decide to remove your pet door and patch the hole. Place the exterior pet door in the hole to ensure that it fits properly.
We recommend that you cut a piece of wood to the size of the interior wall of your door. Put this piece of wood in place to give your door extra support. Now from the inside put the exterior door into place, screw the interior door into place and you’ll have to do the same for the exterior door. It may help you to drill pilot holes first.
Once both sides of your pet door are screwed firmly in place, the installation of your wall entry door is complete
